Sail Quilt

Made entirely from recycled sails, every square of this wall hanging holds memories of the past. As a tribute to my love for sailing, I created this piece from materials that have travelled across waters, weathered storms, and embraced wind. These sails once carried people across waters, and now, in their second life, they become part of a visual journey. By using all of the parts of a sail, I intentionally preserved the marks of time- the fraying edges, water stains, and sun bleached fading. I allow these imperfections to tell their stories. Sailing has been a guiding force in my life, a way of being, and a rhythm that has shaped me. This piece is a way of honoring the past lives of these sails- the adventures enabled, winds caught, and hands that once rigged them. In bringing them together, I reflect my own journey, stitching together moments of transition, adventure, and return. This wall hanging is not just a textile piece- it is a map of experience, home, and a celebration of sustainability through art.
