Bitmap Monogram

Project type

GDSN223

In this GDSN 223 assignment, I created a bitmap style monogram using a strict grid system in Adobe Illustrator. The goal was to design a letterform identity that adhered to pixel based constraints while conveying visual interest and individuality. This project challenged me to think creatively within parameters, especially when designing angular forms such as the M in my name. I explored geometric constructions to maintain character within the grid. I refined my project by using negative space. These intentional videos of space broke up the density of the design and added visual rhythm. The final result is a bold, minimal typography mark. This project deepened my understanding of modular design and reinforced the importance of white space in typographic design.
